Choosing a Golf Coach

Finding a Teacher That's Right For You!

There are so many good teachers available so find one that fits well with you.  Here's my tips on finding a good golf coach:

We all learn differently and we all communicate differently.  It's not right or wrong it's just that way.  Find a golf instructor that thinks like you. Be very up front about your goals and find someone who you think can help you get there.

I would never be offended if someone felt like I was not the right teacher for them.  My reputation as a good teacher is developed through the positive feedback that my students give to their friends.  There are lots of professionals to choose from and you are paying them so get what you want.  When I am talking to a new student and I feel that they would best be suited by taking lessons from a fellow professional then I recommend that they talk to them first.  It's all about the connection!

1.  Get to know your local Head Professional.  Their job is to help you enjoy your golf round, get the right equipment and learn the golf skills in order for you to be successful.  Talk to your pro about your golf ability and what you hope to accomplish in your game.  Talk to your pro about how you learn most effectively and what things you are anxious about.  They should direct you to a teaching professional that will be the best fit for you.

2.  Ask around in your community to find out what people think of the local teaching professionals. If there is not someone that you relate to consider driving out of the area a little.  I promise, there is a golf instructor just right for you.

3.  PGA.com and LPGA.com can also help you find a teacher in your area.

4.  Avoid listening to too many opinions.  If you decide to take some lessons then stick with your professional and what they are teaching you.  Too many people listen to too many different people and it can be really confusing.

You can all accomplish what you want in your game it's just a matter of how you get there.  Commit to practicing and if you need further advice on finding a teacher feel free to email me at cindy@askcindycarpenter.com.
